Think You Can’t Get Away With Patterns? You Can With a Gorgeous Silk Scarf or Shawl!
Take a look into your closet. What does it hold? Is it full of the same safe drab business suits and colorless cocktail dresses? This is not unusual. In fact, this is a perfectly normal trend. Women play it safe knowing the outfits they have are functional and can be mixed and matched without difficulty. Anything that features a pattern or is colorful draws too much attention. It can also cause them to appear taller or wider than they really are. This is the last thing any woman wants to reveal or accentuate. For some women, large prints will swallow them whole, making them feel smaller than they really are.
Does this condemn us women to a sea of indifferent blandness? No, it does not. Even if you are not comfortable with or feel an entire pattern of bold color complements you, you can always add a dash of color, a blaze of pattern. These little touches add verve, a touch of brilliance and depict individuality.
Furthermore, if you are petite or the opposite, you can utilize these colorful accessories to your own advantage. If you are tall, and self-conscious about those extra inches, create the illusion of being shorter. Take the scarf and wear it in as a belt, choosing colors that complement your dress. The use of the belt will separate the vertical length by creating a horizontal line. This technique does not work for shorter women. Women who are vertically challenged need to wear smaller designs, draped in such a way as to detract from the horizontal by creating the sensation of vertical.
Whatever your body type and “challenging” feature, there is a hand-made silk scarf and design for you. Avoid the manufactured or even designer models. The only ones that are truly hand-crafted and artistically unique are what you need. While it is possible to escape fashion censure, and embarrassment if you and someone else where the same dull outfit, it is a fashion faux pas to be caught the same patterned design.
