Besides making a man look like a man, male pubic hair is actually more functional than high society and celebrities would have us believe.
When you're starting the joyous phase of your life (a.k.a. acne filled, hormone raging puberty), the foundation for your pubic hair arrives as a light little dusting of hairs around your penis.
As the hormones begin to take over your life, so does your pubic hair take over the scrotum, your legs, your anus, and the other bits in between. What's interesting to note is that female pubic hair is about the same in thickness and in prevalence – but the male pubic hair tends to grow upwards to a line of hair that points at the navel of the man.
Come to think of it, it looks like an arrow that's pointing at the man's head, which seems a bit contradictory given where attention should be given…

How to Shave Safely Every Time
If you're ready to bare some of your bits for her or just for yourself to admire, it's time to get down to business. Pubic hair shaving for men isn't an art, it's a technique.
- Start by warming up your skin with slightly warm water and some high quality shaving cream or gel. This is not the time to be cheap, so choose something like Neutrogena or Nivea to make sure you're protecting that sensitive skin. Dollar store brands aren't going to cut it, so to speak.
- Use a fresh razor that you've used in the past. Like the shaving cream, you don't want to use a rusted old razor or something you've just picked up on sale at the drugstore. Get your trusty razor out, change the blade, and you're ready.
- Slowly work your way WITH the pubic hair at first to get things started. This is not going to be a fast process, so don't rush it. Who knows what you might slice?
- Once you've taken the hedges down a bit, it's time to go in for the against the hair growth trimming. Again, slow and easy does it.
It will help to start at the shaft first before you head to the testicles. Of course, it's all a matter of personal preference and how you've planned to cut things and shape things.
When you're done, rinse away the shaving cream, pat things dry, and admire your handiwork.
BONUS TIP: Take an electric trimmer to your hair before you shave. This will help to trim things down and make the shaving process a bit more efficient without dulling your razor blade.

Can't I Hire Some Landscaping Help?
You might be wondering if there is someone (preferably cute) who you can pay to trim your bits for you…and the answer is usually no. At higher end salons in the big cities, you might be able to find some male pubic hair professionals, but it's a long shot at best.
Most of the salons that specialize in genital hair removal want to use a laser and get the job done permanently – like at Assara Salon in New York City. Sure, it's going to end your hair woes, but if you're someone who just likes to experiment with your pubic hair, you might not want to take such a bold step.

Fun hub, Julie. The video is hilla-rious! I'm totally with you when it comes to trimming and "upkeep," but shaving? I think it's very strange looking - on men OR women. Adults are SUPPOSED to have hair in certain places. It's part of the allure... otherwise it's creepy and like looking at a pre-pubescant. That's just wrong!
PS: That line of hair on the stomach - between the belly button and pants, is called the "Happy Trail."

I agree with the bikini wax, though - because not to is pretty gross. And for men? They shouldn't be wearing anything resembling a bikini - including a Speedo. The only guy I've ever seen who can pull that off is Michael Phelps.
Isn't it inteest that boys and girls wait anxiously for the fruits of puberty that will entitled them to pass through childhood to the destination of being an adult.
Pubic hair being one of the first signs, but then in recent decades adults are turning back the puberty clock to once again be children.
This is a totally subjective topic and its your pubic hairs, do what you want with it.

This was a good read! I am a 21 year old male and I shave and have the landing strip style. Never used to as I suffered from lack of confidence to even get a girl but after shaving I feel more confident so do it all the time now. At the end of the day, its not gay, some girls like it, some don't. If anyone has any respect then they would just tell u they prefer one or the other in a respectful way and if they don't then they are not worth it. Men dont bully women about it and if we don't like something normally the girl is worth it anyway and IT'S JUST HAIR! its clean and I wouldn't stop doing it even if people took the piss. Chances are, people who take the piss arnt comfortable enough with themselves anyway. My theory is everybody is different so why worry! hope this helps.
I'm a 23 year old male and I've been trimming myself for a few months now. I've tried different styles, including no hair at all, and I've been monitoring the difference the various styles make to my girlfriend's experience during sex. No hair at all seems to work well, as when I go deep inside her and my pubic area is in total contact with hers, she seems to want to rub hers aggressively against my smooth area. You have to keep it perfectly smooth though! Another one I'm experimenting with at the moment is the 'inverted landing strip'. I've removed most of the hair from the landing strip area but left some around the sides, allowing it to grow quite long. The theory is that the central area can be lubed up and rubbed on the clitoris area, whilst the hair around the sides will tickle the area around her vagina, teasing and irritating her vagina until she orgasms. So far this has worked very well and she grips her legs around me very tightly when she orgasms.

Pubic hair if left untrimmed can be a cause of concern. How? when the erection subsides in a clothed uncut male the prepuce grabs the surrounding hair strands and the pull on the strands can be a cause of discomfort and embarresment it causes especially if around others is unpardonable.
Trimming of the pubic hair is highly recommended along with the trimming of the moustache(as while eating the moustache hair is caught in between the biting action and painful)
I personally find hairy women most attractive and am jealouse as they can move unhindered even when they are horny and sexually excited.

I shave down there. (I take it all off). A few women are amused slightly at first, but quickly fall in love with it. No flossing during french or irritation during intercoarse are the big attractions. Many also think it makes it appear larger.

This was interesting reading with some humour and recently tried a shave-ALL pubic area basically because I’ve seen women do it regularly. Why did I do it?... Basically because I don’t have a “bush” alike other men, rather straight-ish long growing hair down there with different tones, and I was frustrated. But after reading this article might experiment with some styles that might suit my body. Now I don’t feel too reserved.

I don't think I'll look at a guys package in the same way again. I'll be wondering just how bushy...or not they are. Thanks for giving me something else to ponder on a Monday morning:)
